I am a self-taught photographer, living in the Netherlands. My favourite subjects are landscapes and seascapes, where I’m searching for minimal and rather graphical images, with a strong preference for black and white.
In 2016 I travelled to Hokkaido in Japan. During the winter months this island is almost fully covered in a soft layer of snow, bringing wonderful opportunities for creating minimal and “silent” pictures. Influenced by the politeness of the Japanese people I encountered, I made an emotional inward journey. After a few frantic days to start with, I became very relaxed and comfortable with the conditions and the scenery. In this almost meditative state the images more or less presented themselves to me.
