G.B.Smith was Born in the industrial heartland of England, and started his photographic exploration over 40 years ago, grounded in large format plate cameras and the craft of darkroom film development. A truly global citizen, having lived on four continents and worked in six, he now resides in Maryland, USA, and combines extensive global travel with his passion for fine art photography.
These featured images are drawn from two recent collections; “Aquetecture” and “Sea Grit” both of which study the interactions of man-made structures and forms with the element of water and the natural landscape.
“I distill a scene down to its uncluttered form and contrasts, seeking to highlight its perceived patterns, flows and structure. This is why I am drawn to black and white and more minimalist imagery, where less can serve to communicate more”.
